MESSAGE FROM FOUNDER / MANAGING TRUSTEE
Reaching out to help is a natural human tendency. In the frenetic pace of today’s world, we hardly get the time to stop and look around us to see the plight of those less fortunate than us. Some of us do, and follow our heart, to uplift in our own way a small slice of humanity that we feel needs it. We do this in multiple ways. Some of us spend our time; some of us dedicate our efforts and yet again some part with our money to a worthy cause.
Some of us are fortunate to dedicate our skills to a cause.
This realization, one could almost call it an epiphany, happened to me over two decades ago when I realized that as a trained professional in rehabilitation, I could do much more to those around me who could not afford rehabilitation services or, more importantly could not access them. Thus, was born Freedom trust, and over the years it has come to symbolize Freedom...freedom from disability. This is of course a relative term, since there are conditions which result in permanent disability for which some appliances can provide only partial mobility. However, I am happy to share with you that we have made a difference in over 22500 lives in our camps.
Recently after launching our landmark WALK INDIA project, we have given artificial limbs to over 2600 persons as of date, and reaching out to states like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telengana, has given us a national flavor. We have a mandate to give 100 limbs in Assam this year.
All this has been very humbling, because it could not have been without the spontaneous outpouring of support from all of you, and with God’s blessings we are planning take our mission nationwide. Our team which works day and night for our projects and our newly reconstituted board of trustees are a bulwark of support for Freedom Trust. We dedicate this annual report to all
